(Updated May, 2009)

Please don’t send me chain letters! You could be blacklisted.

I’m currently having a problem with people who include me on their general mailing list and unthinkingly forward chain letters to me – along with everyone else in their address book.

I’m happy to answer any questions about my books or about writing but these general mailings waste my time. I’m not interested in horoscopes or cute stories or tales with a moral. And I’m particularly not interested in the infantile threats that bad luck will dog me if I don’t forward the message to other people.

In addition, each of these general mailings exposes my email address to a mailing list of complete strangers. If anyone of them hits the “Reply All”  button, I receive an email that has nothing to do with me or the books, from someone I’ve never heard of. And there’s a risk that there might be a virus attached.

In future, anyone who sends me a chain letter will be blacklisted so their emails will be rejected by my server.

Okay, now for some good news!

Book 8 is now available  in Australia!

The title is “The Kings of Clonmel” and it’s set on the island of Hibernia, which is off the west coast of Araluen. It’s the equivalent of Ireland in the real world. Hibernia was the name the romans gave to Ireland. Clonmel is one of the six kingdoms of Hibernia. Just a piece of trivia for you: Clonmel was the town in Tipperary where my Irish grandmother, Norah Skehan, grew up. Using the name is my way of honouring Nana.

Book 9, the second half of the story, is titled “Halt’s Peril”. It’s written and will be released in November.

Book 5 is available in the USA. Book 6 is coming!

Book 6, “The Siege of Macindaw” will be release din the USA in August, 2009.

Books   7, 8 & 9 will definitely be published in the US. I don't have a schedule for them but you could try contacting my US publisher. There's a link to their website on the Contacts Page.

Korea wins the race! First Asian language books released!

The series  has been sold in several Asian markets but the first ones to be published are the Korean versions. I’m told that because the Korean language and alphabet is rather long, they’ve divided the first book into two parts. The first part is called “The Day of Choosing” – or so I’m told by a Korean person who translated the cover for me.

What’s happening with the Ranger’s movie?

Well, it was supposed to start shooting this year but there’s been a delay in the funding. So we’ll all have to wait a little longer. Paul Haggis, the writer-director on the project, has been in contact with me recently and he’s still keen to go ahead.

And for the moment, that should bring you up to date with the world of the Ranger’s Apprentice.

Sorry this page has been out of date for some time!
